American Terrorism and the Bush administration

Mr. President

Two recent events put in juxtaposition begs the question, 'How much responsibility should you bear for the recent murders of church members and for future crimes to be committed by intolerant low-information Americans?'

American terrorist, Jim D. Adkisson, an unemployed man, recently shot and killed several Tennessee Valley Unitarian Universalist Church members because he believed they were too liberal. I don't think it was a coincidence that he was an avid reader of Hannity, Riley and Savage's books.

Imagine that, a right-wing-talk-radio-listener decides to shoot up the people those hate-talk hosts claim, is the reason for all his ills. Who knew hate-radio had listeners who would act on what they hear?

Imagine the irony of the situation. This home-grown terrorist was receiving food stamps which came to fruition because of the efforts of liberal lawmakers, chose to kill people because they were too liberal.

The second bit of news that caught my eye occurred on MSNBC's Hardball.

Scott McClellan admitted to Chris Matthews that the White Houses talking points were routinely directly to Americas through Fox News.

Although this is not surprising to most people, does this White House tie-in make your administration complicit in these murders?

Don't you think that enabling hate-radio would have consequences?

How many more people are out there, in this desperate economy which you helped create, armed and ready to take out their frustration on the people these hate radio people tell them are responsible for their ills.

You had already performed a yeoman's job of polarizing the country in order to win elections before the economy became so dire.

People are losing their homes, health-care benefits, jobs, and their dignity.

The bad luck in their lives is not their fault, it is caused by ACLU members, elitists, Muslims, French, gays, blacks immigrants, liberals, feminists and Democrats in general. And they are told that their peace and status quo can only be achievable if all the 'bad' people can be either deported, contained, or killed.

If the personal fortune of average Americans does not soon improve the nation could become a tinderbox while right-wing-talk hosts paint the targets for them.

By supporting Fox news, a hateful, race-baiting organization, don't you think somebody somewhere is going to take their unabashed links with your administration as government supported hate?

What will the ultimate body count be in this unpublished uncivil civil war you have helped initiate?

After you finally leave office, lets not forget to tally these deaths along with Iraqi and American soldier deaths you have already chalked up.

Everything is turning up Obama

Mr. President,
Who knew that an enlightened Democratic presidential candidate was all it took to get you to reverse yourself on so many foreign issues.

Suddenly, Obama's proposed foreign policy has migrated onto your agenda.

First, I am sorry that I have not written in a while. I screwed up my right arm, and I had to learn how to use my left arm instead. I had a heck-of-a-time trying to cook, eat, and everything else with my left hand. I am feeling much better after taking some prescribed medication and a couple of rounds of physical therapy.

These are some of the mantras you have spewed on the American air waves.

"The United States will never talk directly with Iran unless it dismantles its nuclear program,"" America will not provide any aid to North Korea until they dismantled their nuclear program." The other Bushisms we heard was "free markets can only operate without government interference. Then there is the ever-famous "We will never put a time line on removing our troops from Iraq." And then there was also, "Iraq not Afghanistan is the center on terrorism."

So What happened?

Since Obama espoused a change in foreign policy which is just the opposite of what you have pursued, you have sent State Department officials to speak with Iran, provided food aid to North Korea, bailed out Bears and Stearns, and now talk about "time horizon" for removing troops from Iraq and have sent more troops from Iraq to Afghanistan.

Have we entered Bizzaro World, in a different dimension where people take on opposite behaviors?

Suddenly Obama's policies are worth copying. Attempting to steal Obama's thunder may somewhat blunt his attack on your policies but it leaves McCain out in the cold and it also shows how you continue to play politics with Americas safety up to the last minute you remain in office.

The internet blogs and late-night comedians are having a ball with all of this of course. The material just rights itself.

I wonder if many comedians are hoping that McCain will win the presidency. News reporter have already begun to frame McCain's forgetfulness, ignorance of geography, flip-flopping on issues and recreating history as cute.

Talk about lowering the bar.

Eight years of watching your brain slowly deteriorate from past drug and alcohol abuse, has been torturous as we see you fumble, and guffaw your way through the English language. While you look dumb, Americans that voted for you looked dumber by comparison. No wonder the world in general have looked down on our nation and have demonstrated severe qualms about joining us in any serious endeavor.

Now John MCain is following in your footsteps although at a slower gait. He looks like the irrepressible grandfather who forgets what he said yesterday who is quick to yell at kids to get off his lawn. The sad thing is that most Americans are still stupid enough to fall for the adorable senile grandfather figure who asks you to pull his finger.

He has you to thank for that.

For the last eight years your apologists have overlooked your, poorly-timed guffaws, aberrant behavior around world leaders, unsurpassed ignorance and repeated mangling of English language as cute. You have made dumb cute in an age when education has never been more important.

This is in line with the Republican party who seems to want to keep the White House as a home for dolts, and simpletons.

While you claimed to never read, McCain exclaims, he knows very little about the economy at a time when the economy is in such dire shape. You and McCain are like peas and carrots with the IQs of 8th graders.

I recently read that the ex-rebel leader who served as vice-president of Congo was arrested near Brussels, Belgium on charges of war crimes and crimes against humanity according to the International Criminal Court. And Radovan Karadzic the former Bosnian Serb leader was arrested after hiding for 13 years. He is also indicted for war crimes.

It took a few years before these murderers were captured. They will soon to be tried for their war crimes.

You better tell David Addington, Dick Cheney, Donald Rumsfield, Alberto Gonzalez and everyone else associated with Abu Gharib, extraordinary rendition and the Iraq invasion that the world's justice may visit them in the near future.

Have you ever thought about growing a mustache?

If it bleeds it don't lead anymore.

Mr. President,
Before I forget, congratulations on your 62nd birthday and achieving over six decades of living in delusion.

But you couldn't have done it by yourself. You have had lots of help along the way including a compliant press.

Most but not all media news organizations agreed that they were negligent during the run-up to your invasion of Iraq. For example, ABC news anchor Charles Gibson said he would not do anything differently and FOX has still to acknowledge that Iraq does not have WMD.

After most media outlets agreed that they did not question your march to a needless war, they have fallen into the same pattern of non-reporting as they fail to report the ongoing war in Iraq and the resurgent Taliban and Al Queada.

Despite seven years of record-breaking military expenditures, thousands of tons of expended explosives, billions of bullets, 4115 dead American soldiers, and enough Iraqi tears to fill a sea, we are at a stalemate in Afghanistan with the very people who actually caused the attack on 9-11 and we have made Iraq a nation of rublle and graves.

It is not so much the journalists themselves who have given in, there have been more journalists killed in Iraq than in any other war. The deaths of these journalists in your war and the ongoing story in Iraq are being filed under don't care by their news organizations.

Why they don't care is curious, but with an ever-shrinking number of news outlets left after so many independent outlets were absorbed by large news conglomerations that's just the way it is.

So when a large news media, lets say FOX, decides they know what is best for the nation and slant the news they provide to solely support the Republican party, they become a major force in warping the news.

It is one thing for FOX to betray our democracy, but the rest of the media has said nothing as the GOP machine is allowed to sell their propaganda unchallenged. Such is the case when Republican pundits have recently claimed the surge in Iraq is a success without any qualification.

Lets face it; anytime a political machine can showcase a man like yourself, lacking in so many ways, and buffalo an entire country into believing he could be the leader of the most powerful nation on earth; there is something seriously wrong.

Our news media are supposed to be an important element of our democratic process. They have been entrusted by the founders to provide us with information to help us guide the democratic process.

How does news about spoiled rich girls acting out help us accomplish that? Why not use the airwaves to cover alien baby births and take over the supermarket tabloids completely?

I had hopes that when many members of the media finally accepted the criticism of rolling over at the onset to your war they would keep a closer eye on future attempts to hide the truth. I was wrong.

If it bleeds it may lead, but it won't play if it don't pay. The news division has to turn a profit which means that the news can't offend, or the advertisers may take their business somewhere else. And the truth is often offensive to many people.

Letting you slide has become a national pastime for news organizations.

For example, the goal for the surge was to provide the Iraqis some time to establish democratic reforms, and yet the overwhelming majority of reforms were not addressed. And yet it is communicated in the media as a complete success.

Are Americans falling for it? I am not sure since the election, and the economy have now taken center stage so Iraq has been placed on the back burner.

Politics has little to do with truth-telling. The surge is working according to John McCain so rather than argue that the surge is NOT working Obama may say that since the surge is working we can remove our troops from Iraq.

For better or worse, the internet and bloggers may be all we have left to pursue the truth and to keep our public officials honest.

How sad is that.
