Where is the magic Mr. President?

Mr. President,
Are you really at the end of your rope?

Ever since you told us that you did not have a magic wand to bring the cost of gas down, I have been unable to shake the idea that as President of the United States you have the power of the presidency. It is the closest thing to a magic wand anyone could realistically have and look what you did with that!

But, we know it is not a lack of magic; it is just the calender.

Congress can smell a lame duck as well as we do.

This has to be very frustrating for you junior.

This is one of the few times in your life where neither daddy nor his friends are able to bail you out the hell-hole you dug for yourself.

Having your way with our Constitution is finally ending but not because Congress stepped in to provide a counterbalance to the executive branch, as our nation's founders mandated. And it is ending not because you responded to public opinion, which is the basis of all democracies. And it is certainly not ending because of our judicial branch which was supposed to keep the executive branch from assuming more power than what the Constitution allowed.

With your demise goes the idea of a multi-decade republican reich which Karl Rove tried to establish through nefarious, and most likely, illegal means. Rove is such a tantalizing target for many many people who want their pound of flesh from Mr. Rove.

But that is for the dreamers on the web. Because we can almost bet that you will continue to expand the umbrella of executive power to keep yourself and your cabinet out of jail. And tht is probably the best job you have done while you were in office.

The other area you are pretty successful at, was keeping almost every misdeed and illegal act away from public scrutiny. Your propaganda machine is second to none.

You embedded reporters, paid newsmen, and military analysts in your efforts to effectively co-opt most of the news media into becoming mere stenographers for the White House.

You have been equally effective at keeping Congress and the courts from obtaining incriminating evidence which could put you and many of your cabinet members in serious legal jeopardy.

Who ever becomes president next January will have to make a major decision to either forgive and forget your crimes against the Constitution or to pursue them in the name of justice.

Your administration has already done a yeoman's job of destroying e-mails and stonewalling investigations since the Democrats took over the House.

It is pretty obvious that the next President will be walking into rooms full of overused shredders, landfills full of trashed hard drives and enough legal hurdles to keep battalions of intrepid justice department lawyers busy for years.

After you leave the presidency you announced your plans to move to Dallas, but there is also a rumor on the web that
you purchased a considerable amount of land in Paraguay, a nation which has no extradition treaties with other countries.

After World War II Paraguay was a haven for Nazis and exiled dictators.

You are not thinking of leaving the country to work on your Spanish are you junior?
