Welcome to the new America, it helps if you like canned spam.

Mr. President,
You have helped usher in a new age for America, albeit not a golden one but one which involves bicycles and canned spam.

America's long association with high living standards has slowly been eroding for several years. Compared to previous years they are now in a free fall.

Is it a zero sum world junior? Do some countries gain only at the expense of others? If so would it explain why China's standard of living is rising while ours are falling?

As the Chinese people begin to gain from their financial partnership with WalMart, Toys R Us and other retail stores, they are poised to take the mantle as the world's largest consumer nation away from America.

Ordinary Chinese citizens are now buying cars and parking their old bikes while Americans are parking their cars and riding their old bikes to work.

Indeed, the increased ridership of existing bike lanes in American cities is not due to a sudden realization of achieving good cardio health.

People in cities such as Chicago, Washington Madison and Portland, Oregon, are
taking advantage of recently built bicycle lanes, bike-friendly transit systems, and designated bike-parking areas to get to work and back because of rising fuel costs.

It took some time, but America is finally beginning to feel the pain of high gas prices, which the rest of the world has had to bear for many years.

Since the cost of gas has always been higher in Europe they adapted to it and built mass transportation systems and used smaller fuel efficient cars.

As a nation built around cheap cars and cheap gas America's present fuel crisis is changing everything.

Something is going to have to give, to blunt the increased cost of driving to work. Perhaps urban areas will become America's new hot real estate market.

Making money more available for mortgages, favorable tax rates for businesses and vastly improved inner city schools could cause a return of businesses and employees back to the city.

These last few weeks we have also seen stories such as the farmer who has gone back to
using mules to cut back on their fuel cost, and people riding their horses to town or to their school.

More bicycles on American streets are not the only indicator of an economic reversal of fortunes.

As the salary of the Chinese people goes up the amount of meat into their diets has increased while lower wages and higher costs in the United States are forcing some Americans to increasing their consumption of generic foods and canned Spam.

Since you continue to argue that we are not in a recession, what do you tell the Americans who have lost their high-paying factory jobs and now can't afford to travel to their lower paying job they were lucky to get? What do you tell the mother who can only afford to feed her family two meals a day and can't afford to get sick?

Stan Brook knows about the plight of poor people. Brook along with volunteer doctors and nurses have helped treat thousands of people in remote areas of the world such as Guyana, and other third world nations.

He began a volunteer operation called Remote Area Medical or RAM more than 20 years ago. He works without a salary and funds his effort through the generosity of people who donate to his venture.

His venue has changed radically over the years as he now spends approximately 60 per cent of his volunteer effort in the poor areas within the United States.

CBS 60 minutes highlighted his cause describing one weekend last spring when he landed his vintage World War II plane in Layayette, Tennessee, where hundreds of people, some of whom drove hundreds of miles to get someone to help them with their ailing health problems. During this particular weekend RAM treated 550 people.

Since 47 million Americans are without health insurance, it is a sure bet RAM will continue to visit more American cities to provide badly needed health care to Americans as long as the donations allow.

It's a pickle junior, a real pickle.

The volatile Stock Market and the violent weather hitting America this spring are also adding to the gloomy mood.

As families are shown on the news rummaging through the debris that used to be their homes, reporters ask the victims about their recent tragedy. Sometimes the disaster survivors wonder aloud what their future will be after the flood, the fire, the mud slide, or the tornado has destroyed their homes.

It is easy to see thousands maybe millions of other Americans in the drawn faces of those distraught survivors as they are hit by a tsunami of money woes fostered by a perfect financial storm. A storm created from a criminal lack of financial regulation, terrible education reforms, horrendous economic practices, a short-minded energy policy and a politicized presidency.

There is little relief for many average people in the United States. If the series of impending weather calamities doesn't bring Americans to their knees, a guy they thought they could have a beer with, most certainly will. Their only hope is to pray they can stay afloat until you leave office and the next president and congress can provide some sort of relief.

Until then it is going to be a rough ride for ordinary folks who thought they would always have as good a life as their parents.

Why impeach when it's more fun to watch you rot?

Mr. President,
Although you have been painted as the worst president ever to grace the White House in several generations you have succeeded to flummox the Democrats. They have been confused and in disarray for most of the last eight years.

Representative Kucinich knows what he wants. He wants to impeach you. He is not alone; millions of Americans have asked for your head on a pike.

Although he failed to impeach
Vice-president Cheney last year, Rep. Dennis J. Kucinich formally submitted the request for your impeachment this week. He took hours reading 35 articles of impeachment, using a parliamentary maneuver that should force a vote and have the matter sent to the judiciary committee.

Although this is the proper means of initiating an impeachment it will most likely die there along with Cheney's impeachment request.

Nonetheless it is a telling moment in American history.

Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid have long decided to allow you to continue to rot in office. This approach worked in 2006 when the Bush-stench contaminated many republican's efforts to be elected to congress.

And the ploy will work again. As long as you continue being a one man wrecking crew your Republican congressmen will continue to be subject to the same fate as their fallen brethren from 2006.

Between the foul Bush-taint which you leave on all those near you and the GOP congressmen's own failure to realize how much they have drifted away from mainstream America, it should be a landslide for the Democrats in November if the Dems don't screw it up.

Republican Congressmen have been self-destructing and are often maneuvered into taking some very unpopular stands which make them look like a combination of Scrooge and the infamous Mr. Potter from Its a Wonderful Life. While Americans continue to dying in the Mideast and folks at home are slowly being strangled by your ill-thought out financial and energy policies, republican congressmen obstruct popular relief plans for waylaid Americans and soldier benefits.

Indeed, the Democrats have found out how to use your significant unpopularity into making tons of political hay without incurring the potential problems of impeaching you.

During the Clinton impeachment, they saw Clinton's popularity numbers actually went up after the GOP-led congress filed impeachment charges against him, and the Republicans suffered quite a bit of backlash for their efforts.

So in order to keep from suffering the same fate Democrats they are allowing you to run free and continue to hang out there like fruit rotting on the vine, transferring your unique brand of ineptness and uneducated leadership to contaminate all Republicans in office.

It is a shame that politics takes priority over principle. It was not what the founders wanted from our Congress but that is the world your divisive policies have brought us. History will damn the Democrats for using such cynical behavior thus failing to act on articles of impeaching.

It is enough to kind of shake our faith in government.

Not to say that many of your other accomplishments already haven't shaken that tree.

Americans are reeling from the mortgage crisis, inflation, the skyrocketing cost of gas, the unending Iraq war, which most Americans attribute to the lack of competence of all of your government agencies including the food safety agencies.

Government agencies, which were once established to assure a safe workplace, safe drugs, and safe processing of our food, have been morphed from protecting our citizenry to protecting industry profits.

Your administration has politicized and generally screwed up so many government policies that American's living standards have been decimated, and all the food we eat is of questionable safety, often placing our lives in jeopardy.

We have had
one recall after another involving ground meat, lettuce, tomatoes pet food, animal feed, poultry products, children's toys, macaroni salad, infant formula, corn, seafood, mouthwash, cheese, clam chowder, soy milk chocolate chip cakes, milk and eggs to mention just a few of the recalls.

Japan has rebelled at accepting our beef for several years and South Korea just had
massive demonstrations where tens of thousands of Koreans demonstrated against lifting the ban they had on American beef.

Maybe it the lackadaisical approach you have towards testing for mad cow.

Since you had already failed to make America and the world a safer place, did you have to make eating a hamburger with lettuce and tomato a death-defying act?

Your disdain for American's health is matched by your disregard for the Constitution, which you feel you think you can turn on and off at your discretion.

Even though you stacked the court with conservatives, it was not enough to recently keep the Supreme Court from ruling 5-4 upholding a basic tenant of human rights upheld for hundreds of years habeas Corpus, the right to question their detention.

The Supreme Court ruled against you for the third time on the status, and the Military Commission process you tried to use in place of the constitution.

Since the court justices ruled on constitutional grounds, you will not be able to issue an executive order or bully congress's to pass any law which could circumvent this ruling.

Not only have you given innocent suspects the same rights as American citizens, which is a good thing, you have severely tainted the cases of real terrorists by perhaps having to provide information you obtained through torturing them, which is a very bad thing.

This latest salvo from the Supreme Court has put quite the wrench in your plans to have the trials at Guantanimo just before the November elections.

Since you can't use the terrorist trials as propaganda to scare Americans implying the patently absurd idea that only the GOP can keep them safe, you can use the time-tested "chatter" of an impending attack this fall.

Good luck with that one junior. That wolf cry has squeezed out almost all the fear it could four years ago. But, hey its worth a shot.

George the Dolt

Mr. President,

Boy, did Scott McClellan drop a bomb on the White House. He has been all over the airwaves with his tell-all White House book,
What Happened.

McClellan's book is clearing up and confirmed many suspicions we have all had.

First of all, you are not a very complex person; in fact, you are quite the simpleton. Many people have given you too much credit. The idea that a truly evil Machiavellian person is directing the American ship is not true. You are not capable of Machiavellian though process.

You are not complicated nor do you use any torturous logic decision process to arrive at a plan of action. You use your gut like an incurious dullard who doesn't want pertinent information or facts to make tremendous world-altering decisions.

If you had been governing in Europe, you would have been called "George the Dolt."

Anyone who tells the Pope his speech was awesome is a simpleton. Anyone who ignores all dissenting opinion is a simpleton. Anyone who takes a record amount of vacation time when the nation is at the lowest ebb in decades, is a lazy simpleton.

Your incurious and lazy manner explain why you have no plan for leaving Iraq or what to do in Pakistan, South America, Mexico, Africa, North Korea, Georgia, Russia, Lebanon, or the Gaza Strip. Our lack of a coherent Energy Policy, the Katrina aid disaster, the falling dollar rising oil prices, declining education standards and the huge loss of American jobs are the result of Bush-planning.

Whether it is ignoring climate change due to global warming, or the sub-prime mortgage fiasco, they are all handled the same way.

If it concerns business in any way, you tell your minions to deregulating it and leave it to "market forces" to deal with the problem.

If it involves foreign policy you defer action until all neighboring nations agree to support your views or just ignore it unless it involves Iraq.

All other problems seem to be decided by deferring the solution to the state governments or flipping a coin. Katrina, the oil crisis, the failing education problem and the falling dollar are all examples of not getting too involved.

When Russia started to rise as a major energy power broker you said you looked into Putin's heart and claimed there was no problem there. Wishful thinking didn't get Europe's dependence on Russian gas any easier.

You ignored the Palestinian infatada and Israel's nonstop attack on Gaza's citizens for seven years. And when you finally focused on Israel, it was too little and too late.

Since you ignored the pro-western government in Lebanon. when Israel attacked them is it any surprise that they canceling anti-Hezbollah measures they originally considered.

Since you tried to use Israel to isolate Syria is it any surprise that Israel decided that you were so ignorant of middle east politics that they decided to ignore your pleas and continued to work with the Syrians?

The aftermath of your lazy and incompetent presidency helped create an increasingly unsafe world which has seen suicide bombers as a growth industry. Last year they accounted for 658 of the terrorism attacks, up from 542 attacks last year. This is more than twice as many attacks in any of the last 25 years.

As the violence in Iraq simmers the violence in Afghanistan picks up. You are getting no where as the wars rage on.

After eight years of leadership by "George the Dolt", is it any wonder that your loyalists believe that anyone who actually thinks as an elitist.

What is wrong with electing with someone who is smarter that many of us, America and the world have found out what happens when America elects a guy they can have a drink with at a local bar.
