Katrina

There are anniversaries and then there are anniversaries.

Mr. President,
Is there a certain amount of Karma occurring if Hurricane Gustav hits New Orleans while the Republican Convention is being held?

I mean look at it this way, the convention will be heralding John McCain as their candidate for President almost three years after
August 29  2005, when hurricane Katrina devastated New Orleans. And while people were fighting for their lives in Louisiana you were in Arizona at John McCain’s birthday party. How weird is that?

Now I hear that the party may be
rescheduled their coronation of John McCain because of Tropical Storm Gustav.

I hope I am wrong but it seems like the storm is being treated as a political problem first and a possible natural human disaster, second.

On the other hand we have Obama and the Democratic party holding their convention on the 45th anniversary of Martin Luther King Jr’s speech with the famous words. “I have a dream.”

Obama’s acceptance speech was held in a football stadium to hold the enormous crowd of an estimated 70,000 people.

What would the Reverend King say if he was still alive? We will never know, but we know that he like Obama, also had hope when he said
, “I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.”

Ah but if only that was true.

But I digress, in the meantime we have the GOP drama of impending doom and it shall be either Gustav, Hanna, your presence at the convention or all of the above..
